Inspiration of a Painting

July, 2013 to August, 2013

The Friends of the Library is happy to announce the “Inspiration of a Painting” Art show running from July 20th to August 29th on the main floor of the Amherst Town Library. There are many local artists displaying a wide variety of art work along with insight on how they were inspired to create the finish piece. Come see how a poem inspired Maryann McCarthy to paint a serene ocean scene, how movies and wallpaper inspired M. Foley, or how Shelley A. Brice was inspired to paint her watercolors.

“Inspiration: something that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create: a force or influence that inspires someone” — Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionary

When inspirations comes to an artist, amazing things are created. An emotional component comes into play when an artist is truly inspired and that emotion is transmitted into the painting. Inspiration can be found anywhere and at anytime. This show is a small glimpse of these inspirational moments from our local artists. Come see the inspiration behind Shelley A. Bice, Martha Bosco, Jennifer Cook, Miki Foley, Paul Horns, Maryann McCarthy, Britt Hatch, Beverly Melle, Roxanne O'Brien, and Nancy Perry.
