Downloadable Audiobooks & eBooks
The Amherst Town Library is pleased to offer free access to downloadable audiobooks and eBooks for our cardholders. We offer a wide variety of popular materials available 24/7 from the convenience of your home or office.
What
are Downloadable Audiobooks?
Downloadable audiobooks are unabridged books for you to download and borrow
to listen to on your home computer or a portable listening device.
What are eBooks?
eBooks are are electronic books that can be downloaded and read on computers,
e-readers and other electronic devices.
Where do I
find Downloadable Audio and eBooks?
All downloadable audio and eBook titles are listed in the library
catalog. You may also browse the OverDrive
and 3M catalogs separately.
Quick Links
As a member of the New Hampshire Downloadable Books Consortium (NHDB), we offer both audiobooks and eBooks through Overdrive.The NHDB collection includes fiction, nonfiction, children's and teen titles, as well as language instruction materials. Titles are available in muliple formats and are compatible with many different computers, eBook readers, audio players, and mobile devices.

The Overdrive
Media Console free app for mobile devices is available in the Apple
App Store, Google Play or from your device's app store.
Download Software here to listen to titles or to transfer titles to
a device.
The 3M Cloud Library offers a seamless experience that lets you explore and borrow eBooks at the library, at home and on-the-go. Check out a book on an iPad, take notes while reading on a PC, and finish the book on an Android smartphone. The bookmark feature works across all devices, so readers never lose their place. You can read when, where and how you want.

Borrow a Player or
eReader
For cardholders who do not currently own their own device but are interested
in digital media, the library has several portable devices that are available
to borrow. Users are responsible for returning these items and accessories
in working order. Our
eReaders
circulate for 7 days. Our
MP3 players circulate for 2 weeks.

Fire
The Sansa M230 will hold
approximately eight hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128kps) or
16 hours of WMA tracks (at 64kbps).
The Creative Zen Nano offers you up to 18 hours of continous playback on
a single AAA battery.
