Have you read a book that was so good you wanted to share it with others?

Have you ever read a book that you just did not like?

Here is your chance to write a review. E-mail your review with title of book, your first name and age to jhockett@amherst.lib.nh.us and Miss Jackie will post it right here where other kids can read what you wrote.

Here are some questions that might help you get started, in parentheses are examples:

Who are the main characters? (Evangeline, Merriweather, Magdalena, Melvin, Dr. Pikkaflee and India Terpsichore)

What is this story about? (A girl goes to rescue her parents when they go missing in the jungle)

Where did this take place, and When? (It takes place in modern times at the home of the Mudds and in the Ikkinasti Jungle)

Did I like this book? Why or Why not? (Yes, because it had adventure and apes)

Did the story seem realistic (like it could happen to someone you know?) (Not really, but the author made it seem possible!)

Put in your own thoughts and personality!

An Example Review:

"Evangeline Mudd and the Golden-Haired Apes of the Ikkinasti Jungle" By David Elliott

Review by Jackie

I just read a really cool book: "Evangeline Mudd and the Golden-Haired Apes of the Ikkinasti Jungle". It is about a girl, Evangeline, who swings in trees like an ape. Her PARENTS taught her how to do it! One day her parents, Merriweather and Magdalena get called by a very well-known professor to go study a new group of golden-haired apes in the dangerous Ikkinasti Jungle. Evageline gets sent to the house of a cousin she doesn't know and has to stay there while her parents go to the jungle. Her cousins are not very fun to live with. Melvin raises minks to kill them and there are always protesters outside the house. His wife, India Terpsichore used to be a well-known ballerina who is very concerned with 'letting herself go' and dances EVERYWHERE. Once she learns that Evageline can play piano she makes her play while she dances. One of my favorite scenes is when Evageline messes with her dancing by playing really fast and then reeeaaalllyyy slow. Anyway, Evangeline and the professor realize that something is wrong when they don't hear from her parents in months and they take off to the jungle to save them. That is all I am going to say, because I don't want to ruin the book for you, but I liked it and there is a sequel that is also good!
